About the Author
Scott Empson is the AssociateChair of the Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology degreeprogram at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton,Alberta, Canada, where he teaches Cisco routing, switching, and networkdesign courses in a variety of different programs–certificate, diploma,and applied degree–at the postsecondary level. Scott is also theProgram Coordinator of the Cisco Networking Academy Program at NAIT, aRegional Academy covering Central and Northern Alberta. He has earnedthree undergraduate degrees: a bachelor of arts, with a major inEnglish; a bachelor of education, again with a major inEnglish/language arts; and a bachelor of applied information systemstechnology, with a major in network management. He currently holdsseveral industry certifications, including CCNP, CCAI, and Network+.Prior to instructing at NAIT, he was a junior/senior high schoolEnglish/language arts/computer science teacher at different schoolsthroughout Northern Alberta. Scott lives in Edmonton, Alberta, with hiswife, Trina, and two children, Zachariah and Shaelyn, where he enjoysreading and studying the martial art of Taekwon-Do.
Hans Roth is an instructorin the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology department at RedRiver College in Winnipeg, Canada. Hans has been with the college for11 years and teaches in the both the Electronic Technology and ITareas. He has been with the Cisco Academy Program since 2000 teachingCCNP curricula. Previous to teaching, Hans spent 15 years inR&D/product development designing microcontroller-based controlsystems for consumer products as well as for the automotive andagricultural industries.
